How to Grill Vegetables on a Charcoal Grill
Grilled vegetables look attractive and taste delicious. You can grill them at home to enjoy a healthy and tasty side dish or appetizer. They do not have many calories, and you can sprinkle them with sesame seeds to add an extra layer of flavor. There are several methods to grill vegetables, so choose what best suits your taste. If you are a beginner to charcoal cooking, try out these tips to make your first vegetable grilling experience as easy as possible.
Before you start cooking, inspect the quality of the Charcoal you're using. Charcoal in briquettes or lumps should produce minimal ash. Charcoal that produces excessive ash reduces airflow and may contain fillers. Choose the best Charcoal for your needs by considering the use and duration of cooking, and whether you want it to be cleaner or smokeier. If you're not sure, consult a charcoal expert to help you choose the right type of charcoal for your needs.
While charcoal grilling vegetables is a convenient way to prepare vegetables, you can also prepare them in the oven. The easiest way to grill vegetables is to place them on a rack over glowing coals. If you want a more attractive and festive presentation, try stringing the vegetables on skewers. Another option is to cook the vegetables using an electric grill, an oven, or a skillet. In both cases, you can add coarsely chopped onion rings to add a unique flavor to the baked dish. When grilling, make sure to place them on a wire rack so they don't fall through the heat.
If you want to grill meats, use charcoal briquettes or lump charcoal. Charcoal briquettes will produce better results than lump charcoal and will stay hotter longer. Binchotan charcoal is cleaner but may burn longer. You should also avoid cooking meats at high temperatures as this will cause the meat to release carcinogenic compounds. Aside from charcoal grilling, charcoal also releases polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs).
To prepare the vegetable marinade, cut the eggplants and zucchini into circles about 2 cm thick. Slice onions and peppers. Marinate them in honey-soy sauce and then place them on the rack. Charcoal vegetables can be served as an appetizer or standalone dishes. Once they're ready, spread them on a plate decorated with lettuce leaves. This easy and convenient way to cook vegetables on charcoal can make them a hit among all your family and friends.
