Causes of a Traeger Grease Fire

Published

on

The most common cause of a Traeger grease fire is a pellet grill that does not get cleaned properly. As a result, the pellet grill will start to accumulate residue and it will fall on the food. This will cause uneven temperatures, which can result in dangerous grease fires. It may also overheat. If you notice the drip tube is clogged, you should clean it immediately. After cleaning, you should check the RTD probe to see if it is still functioning.

Another cause of a Traeger grease fire is a dirty smoke stack. If the grill is cold, the grease will condense and drip into the grill. Clean the chimney cap with a cloth and warm water and your favorite degreaser. It may be necessary to clean the chimney cap separately. Once this is done, clean the entire smoker using a wooden tool. If the pellets are in poor condition, clean them. Then, replace them with a fresh batch of pellets.

The last possible cause of a Traeger grease fire is an overcharged and overheated grill. You may not have realized it, but a Traeger fire can be prevented with proper maintenance. Cleaning the pellet grill regularly will reduce the need for deep cleaning. First, unplug the grill and wipe it with soapy water and a disposable rag. Then, you can use car wax to protect the pellet grill from rust.

If the flames are not contained by manual steps, you may want to turn off the Traeger. Afterward, you should turn off the heat source and unplug it. You’ll have to dispose of the cooked food and then clean up the mess. If the fire is already out of control, you should unplug the grill and throw it away. There’s a good chance that the grease fire has been caused by a cooking mistake and that you will have to pay for the cleanup.

Besides a pellet fire, you can also experience a Traeger grease fire if the pellets do not ignite. If you can’t figure out what happened, a simple solution might be to clean the grill. A thorough cleaning will remove any traces of residue and debris. If you have a pellet fire, make sure to keep the pellets in the trough. If not, you may need to set the grill to a higher temperature to disperse the flame.

If the fire is caused by a pellet, you should check the pellets to ensure that they are dry. If they are damp, they could be a cause of a pellet fire. When the fire is in the hopper, it is important to shake the hopper. If the hopper is not empty, you may have a problem with the pellets. It is also important to make sure the pellets have enough moisture.
